Recognize and draw a bisector
I. Recognizing a bisector
1. Definition of a mediatrizLa bisector of a segment is a line perpendicular to the segment that passes through its midpoint. Put another way: it is a straight cut perpendicular to a segment at its midpoint.
The bisector of a segment is a symmetry axis of the segment. 2. MediatrizLa Properties bisector of a segment is the set of points in the plane that are equidistant from the ends of the segment. If we take the segment AB, every point of the bisector are equidistant from A to B. For example, in Figure 2, the point M, which belongs to the perpendicular, is located 4 cm from A and 4 cm in B, and the point N, also from the perpendicular, is 2.5 cm and 2.5 cm from A to B.
Likewise, if a point is equidistant from A and B, we can say that this point is part of the bisector of the segment AB.Por example, in Figure 3, point M is the same distance A and B (3 cm), and therefore is in the perpendicular.
II. Draw the bisector of a segmento1. With a series of figures compásLas shown below describes the stages of construction. The steps should be adapted according to the measures that we den.Los two points used to draw the bisector are equidistant from the ends of the segment, we use the same opening compass to draw the two arcos.2. With a ruler and a series cartabónLas figures below show the steps. We must adapt according to the measures that we give.
