5 Strategies to overcome the blockade and take the first step
And now, where do I start? 5 Strategies to overcome the initial blocking
Are you about to start something new? You might wonder "Now where do I start?" One of the most common situations that you can face is the initial blocking that occurs right when you decide to start something once and for all. Especially if we talk about starting from scratch.
You've probably spent too much time making plans, perhaps by reading articles and self help books, decide what to do and trying to overcome your fear and insecurity to take that first step, and when you finally decide you confusion arises. Yes, I know what I want, but where do I start?
This situation of confusion and blocking is normal and very common when it comes to start from zero or very ambitious goals or major changes. For example, when you decide to leave your career after many years to build your own business or your life when you decide that you are not satisfied and want to start from scratch. You make that decision is hard enough, but then you ask "and now, where do I start?" And I have doubts: "What if I'm wrong?", "To see if I repent," "I'm still in time to turn back", etc.. If this is your situation, I know exactly how you feel, and I will share with you some strategies to help you take that first step:
1. Create a plan of action. It is essential, especially if your goal is ambitious and long-term (in this case you can create a plan short-term and long term.) You probably already have a vision of the end result you want, but it is very important that this goal divided sub, in small steps and if possible with a deadline. For example, when I decided to settle down as coach made a list of the things I do (I register as a freelancer, create my site, furnish the office, make business cards ...), I put a deadline and ordered by priority . After each of these tasks are subdivided into small actions (creating web: hosting search, choose name, ...)
2.Determine the first step, only one. That's the trick to overcome the initial blocking, thinking only of the first action you can take that will lead to the ultimate goal. When one thing does not get bogged down and will put so much fear and also the first step will give you enough motivation to keep going. You may have a vision of how you want your business in two years, but right now I think this can paralyze and overwhelm so Focus ONLY on the first step. Not the same thinking to start a business and all that entails simply choose the name of the business, for example.
3. Focus only on the next action. Sometimes you get what you want is disappointing, because you see distant and unattainable, even if you've already encouraged to take the first step. So, I recommend that you focus only on the next step. It will be easier and also encouraging to see you go you go.
So please bear in mind "What is this I have to do?", Especially in times of strain and stress. For, rest and think, what is this I have to do? What to stop and rest is essential, give yourself time to think about other things and regain strength and the more busy you are, the more you need. When we moved from Toronto to Spain there were moments of high stress where we stopped, rested a couple of days and then back again.
4. Surround yourself with people who support you every day and remember the reasons why you do. There are moments of doubt and insecurity and is therefore essential that you put a little bit negative people and surround yourself with support, people who love anime, you've already been there, that will help you no matter what. Talk to these people will have more courage and energy to take the first step and you doubt much less. Increases the effect reading positive articles and listing all the reasons why you want this change and why you deserve it (although I hate to admit it, you deserve it.)
When I decided to start my coaching business, I talked to my classmates, with several coaches, with people encouraged me and I stopped for a time to communicate with those who told me I was crazy and thought better of it. And no regrets.
5. Ask for and accept help in all areas where you need it. Maybe you need more attention from your partner, friends or relatives. Or invest money in someone delegate or hire an expert who will facilitate the task. It took me at first, but now whenever I can invest money on coaches who are where I want to be delegated and that takes my time and did not contribute anything. At the beginning it's difficult, because you see it as an expense, but remember you are not spending, you're investing and saving time, tranquility and energy.
These five strategies would add one more: Reward yourself! You're doing a great job, admit it. I have a hard time taking the plunge and still you walk slowly, but you're doing well. So reward yourself and feel proud of yourself, because very few people have the courage to do what you're doing. Why you're starting strategy?
