Teamwork in Sports

"The strength of the team is each individual member ... the strength of each member is the team!" (Phil Jackson, Coach, Chicago Bulls)

For a sports team to exist, you need a group of talented athletes, who work together towards a common goal to win the game. There are 4 features that the individual members and the entire team needs in order to be successful. These can be described by the acronym:

T - Trust
E - Enthusiasm
A - Ambition
M - Motivation

Trust allows team members depend on each other and good teamwork is based on trust. In team sports, players must depend on each other. When trust is absent, the members play as individuals, undermining the unity of the whole team. The trust is built when team members know each other and their ability and commitment. Grow together until the practice squad team has developed and has an almost instinctive for each other. In an effective team sport, there must be trust between teammates, trust between the coach and players, and individual athletes have to trust yourself and your skills. If an athlete does not trust himself or his abilities is often expressed fear of failure.

Enthusiasm is the glue that holds the team together. Most people participate in sport for fun and enjoyment of the game. If the game is fun, is eager to train and play. The entire sports team needs to share an enthusiasm that is born from the desire to be a member of the team. Each team member should have the pride the team that creates social cohesion.
Ambition indicates the direction of the team. Individual members of the team and the team as a whole must have the ambition to reach the goal of winning ethically. When a team is united in their quest for a common goal or ambition to have a good task cohesion.

Each member needs to know the team's goals and ambitions and be committed to achieving them. Individuals need ambition to participate in training sessions and focus on improving their skills for the benefit of themselves and the team. Most players have a goal of being recognized as an exceptional player. In order to be recognized, must play well on a series of games. The overall objective of each player is then determined by the performance of the team in matches and in this way the goals of each individual player is integrated with the objective of the team.

Motivation is what drives the team to achieve. Individual players need a good reason before they can perform to their potential. The motivation comes from having a challenge that the player believes he can achieve. The teams are challenged even when they believe they can win the game. Even in the dog can sometimes beat the overwhelming favorite. In fact, the favorite can not run-in because the players "going through the motions" without reason, while the loser is challenged and motivated to achieve. When all team members believe that the team can overcome the obstacles in the path to reach the goal, we say that the team has good effectiveness of the group.

A single arrow is easily broken, but not ten in a bundle .......
