Monarchs
Elizabeth II has surpassed the 81 years and 8 months old and became the chief of older people in British history. For over 55 years she is Queen of 16 independent countries with a combined area larger than that of any State and which aggregate one-sixth of the Earth.
While the XXI century is the only one which has always been in the world more than hereditary elected governments, even one quarter of the countries have monarchs. There are 31 kings who run 45 sovereign states. In addition there are 5 republics inner realms. Of these only three thrones are occupied by women while other women have no right to be citizens.
The latter are more totalitarian crowns of the Arabian peninsula. Between these and the constitutional monarchies of Europe and Japan there are several semi-autocratic kingdoms (such as Morocco, Jordan, Nepal and Thailand). France, the bastion of the Republican revolution, kings in their dependence tolerated Wallis and Fortuna and its elected president acts as the Prince of Andorra.
Most monarchies are hereditary, although some, like in Malaysia, are rotated or, as in the Vatican, are elected by cardinals. Monarchies fall in U.S. wars and revolutions and prefers to liberalize the existing kingdoms on the British model in order to provide stability and continuity to their investments. In China calls for this country to "democratize? restoring in Tibet to its theocratic king (Dalai Lama).
